Tigo Rwanda extends applications deadline for ‘Digital Changemakers’ Competition

Tigo Rwanda in partnership with nonprofit organization, Reach for Change, has announced a one week extension for its ‘Digital Changemakers’ competition.

Originally closing on 21 August 2015, Rwandans can continue to submit their applications until 29 August 2015.
The Tigo Digital Changemakers competition is aimed at encouraging social entrepreneurs to use technology to solve some of Rwanda’s most pressing social needs. For the prize money of Rwf 14 Million, two winners will be selected and also given expert guidance to implement their projects.
According to Tigo, the public response has been encouraging, and extending the deadline has become necessary as several people are still going through the various stages of the application at www.tigo.co.rw/digitalchangemakers.
This is the second year that Tigo Rwanda is running the Digital Changemakers competition, the first of its kind ran last year where 2 winners were selected namely Dominique Alonga of Imagine We Rwanda, an organization that encourages a reading culture among children and Yves Iradukunda of Academic Bridge, a program that empowers schools to efficiently collect and manage students information. Other past winners to the Tigo and Reach for Change competitions are Jacques Kayisire of the Dream Team Football Academy, Gaspard Twagirayezu of CreationHill and Martine Umulisa of Kaami Arts. Both Tigo and Reach for Change, hope to receive quality applications that will demonstrate how mobile broadband, digital and/or information technology can improve the quality of children’s lives and impact communities in a big way.
Applicants who need support with the application process are invited and encouraged to visit The Changemakers Hub, located the Tigo Headquarters in Muhima, between 8:00AM and 5:00PM during week days, to get support with completing and submitting their applications.
