Tigo confirmed today that its customers can
resume making calls and browse the internet following the restoration of
services by 9pm yesterday.
On Monday Tigo users experienced difficulties
accessing voice and using data services due to technical issues on one of the
Tigo network operational databases.
Bright Owusu-Bempah, Chief Financial
Officer at Tigo Rwanda said: “We apologize to our customers for yesterday’s
incident. As soon as the fault was detected, our technical teams immediately focused
their efforts on restoring the network to ensure services were returned to
normal. Today, we have put in place appropriate means of relaying compensation
to all affected customers.”
Tigo prepaid customers will have their
voice and data bundles refunded within today.
In addition, throughout the day tomorrow, all
Tigo prepaid subscribers reloading airtime will receive a 20% bonus on every
airtime top up while postpaid customers will also receive a 5% bonus of their
monthly airtime provision, all to be consumed within 24 hours.
To address any issue, customers can contact
Tigo via its social media or call the call-centre on 456 from a Tigo number or 072
1000 456 from any other number.
