Tigo Rwanda appoints new Chief Technology Officer and Chief Human Resources Officer



Tigo, a leading telecommunications company with over three million customers in Rwanda, has appointed Fabrice Ndatira, as Chief Technology Officer and Laetitia Uwera, as Chief Human Resources Officer.

Fabrice Ndatira, who was most recently Tigo Rwanda’s Head of Engineering, replaces Amir Abdelazim while Laetitia Uwera, who replaces Elizabeth Mwangi, was formerly Learning & Development Manager-Africa/Europe for Millicom, Tigo Rwanda’s parent company.

Commenting on his appointment, Ndatira said, “I am very humble by this opportunity given to me and consider this as a sign of trust to the strong and committed team we have Tigo Rwanda”.

Born in Kasai, DR Congo, Ndatira is one of Tigo’s longest serving employees, having first joined Tigo in April 2009 as a Core Planning Engineer.  He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics and Telecommunication Systems Engineering from the National University of Rwanda (now University of Rwanda).

Commenting on her appointment, Uwera said;

“I am very pleased to return to my country and, most importantly, excited to re-join Tigo Rwanda team. As a company we have talented and positive people driving our business, and I am proud to join a leadership team who trust and values them. I am passionate about human resources because I believe people are the center of the business success, I am looking forward to leading this transformation”.

Born in Rwanda, Uwera was Tigo Rwanda’s sixth hire when it first entered the Rwandan market in 2009. A holder of an Honour's Degree in Hospitality and Human Resources Management from Edinburgh Napier University, she is also a certified Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

“Uwera and Ndatira know Tigo Rwanda inside out. They are well placed to take Tigo Rwanda to the next level. We are especially proud that both of them are young Rwandans who have risen through our own ranks. This is more evidence that Tigo Rwanda not only believes in empowering local talent, but also that that confidence is well placed”, Philip Amoateng, Chief Executive Officer, Tigo Rwanda said.

Fabrice Ndatira and Laetitia Uwera will take up their new posts on 1ST October, 2016.
