Tigo join City of Kigali in special Umuganda in Nyarugunga sector

This Saturday 27th August,  Tigo Rwanda staff lead by the CEO joined the City of Kigali in the special Umuganda that took place in  Nyarugunga sector, Kicukiro District.
The Tigo team lead by the CEO Philip Amoateng, the Kigali city officials represented by Vice Mayor in charge of Social Affairs Judith Kazayire, together with the residents of Nyarugunga Sector cleaned the drainage by the swampy area ahead of the rainy season coming. Other youth groups joined the efforts.

Commenting on Tigo’s participation, Tigo Rwanda Chief Executive Officer, Philip Amoateng said “We have participated in a number of CSR activities, like the Reach for Change the one we do for change leaders, there is the women empowerment, and many others. We know it’s not only about giving but it’s also about the physical presence in the community where you work. We take this seriously, it’s one of our targets and every umuganda we will participate in the activities, we will do the cleanup processes, and we will join the people to talk about the things that are important to the country. We will show our solidarity with the local government, and this is the main reason we have decided to be participate in this activity today.”

After the umuganda Tigo Rwanda staff also served drinking water to the three thousand residents that participated. Kigali City Vice Mayor in charge of Social Affairs Judith Kazayire expressed gratitude to the people of Nyarugunga and all the partners that join and stressed in the importance of keeping the city clean. She also took the opportunity to remind every citizen that they are their neighbour’s eye when it comes to security. 

Tigo Rwanda Chief Executive Officer, Philip Amoateng added “This is not going to be a onetime only, we have always been part of these efforts. The community is encouraging the youth to come down to do the cleanup,  getting this place clean neat, is very important for the growth of Rwanda,  for its agenda of cleanness. So we choose this place to work with the youth of Rwanda,  most of our workers are young, so we bring our youth, we also bought some water to give to the people that are cleaning and physically participate in the cleanup. “

POSITION: Enterprise Solution Manager
The focus of this role is to define, launch and maintain market leading Enterprise Solutions propositions for the B2B segment. This will require you to develop Tigo’s B2B fixed product portfolio strategy and roadmap, create commercially feasible business plans and ensure compliance to legal and regulatory requirements, alongside to managing Mobile Data and the whole spectrum of B2B Convergence and cloud solutions.
You will also manage in-life product performance; ensuring service level agreements are met at all times. Additionally, you will lead and advise cross-functional teams to achieve product goals as well as manage relationships with third party vendors. You will drive and manage product development, improvements and operational excellence to achieve maximum profit margins.
In addition the Enterprise Solutions Manager will have hands-on role which will encompass technical pre-sales, account development/management, solution architecture and co-ordination of technical resources. You will also be involved in the analysis of present and future business market situations, including extensive market research and business development. The candidate must be able to identify all technical issues of assigned accounts to ensure complete customer satisfaction throughout all stages of the sales process.   • Meet and exceed the B2B Solutions budget, whilst leading on defining the commercial tickets, channels Define, launch and manage a portfolio of B2B fixed line services
  • Develop the overall fixed product strategy and roadmap
  • Lead all product development initiatives including formulating strategic product development plans to maximize revenue, customer take-up, capability and profitability.
  • Manage and oversee the commercial interface and integration with Factory to drive product development, optimize cost structures and deliver a diverse range of solutions and CPEs
  • Collaborate with the sales team to define the annual operating plan for all fixed services.
  • Maintain product KPIs and take action to achieve commercial targets, quality standards and customer satisfaction goals
  • Develop and maintain product collateral including handbooks, marketing material, technical guides
  • Act as subject matter expert supporting sales and client services in resolving customer issues
  • Support technical pre-sales teams and attend customer meetings where necessary
  • Produce and deliver product briefing and training to sales, technical and customer service teams
  • Develop deep understanding of account provisioning, service delivery and product support processes
  • Develop a close management relationship with partners and suppliers
  • Produce activity reports, forecasts and management reports on a monthly basis
  • Proactively scopes the technical solution required to address customer requirements, assess customers’ needs, and recommends optimum solutions, ensuring appropriate support for the proposed architecture.
  • Act as key technical account manager for all escalations from corporate clients and follow-ups to the responsible technical team.
  • Manage, create and follow-up all technical escalations, link performances ,bandwidth and billing reports of all corporate clients on daily basis and inform the corporate manager for any issues.
  • Prepare corporate technical budget, project bandwidth and internet capacity and inform the relevant categories for planning purposes 12 months in advance.
  • Responsible for managing full cycle of all corporate projects and maintain delivery timelines agreed with corporate clients and highlight risks to the corporate manager.
  • Able to respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs
  • Able to convey customer requirements to Product Management teams
  • 4-5years relevant experience in telecom industry, preferably in customer-facing activities in a B2B environment
  • Telecom engineering degree in-depth knowledge of fixed and mobile technologies, solutions and services
  • Technical solution expertise in a comparable presales/project manager role
  • Ability to engage in effective and persuasive negotiations and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and time constraints
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of cultures in a diverse community. Strong communication skills whilst being capable of modifying his / her message to fit different levels in the organization
  • Mature ability to work collaboratively with management teams throughout the organization and to be seen as a valuable expert resource to be sought out.
  • Ability to achieve results through others. Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Excellent comprehension of English and French is mandatory
  • Experienced with the Rwandan market
  • High level of professionalism
  • Experienced in setting Sales Strategies and Operational plans
  • Had successful track of leading sales unit roles with monthly targets in commercial units
  • Experienced in managing projects that includes multiple stakeholders

Meet Louis Ngabonziza, a Digital Changemaker

Meet Louis Ngabonziza, a Digital Changemaker who improves lives of hearing impaired children and youth! Louis is a social entrepreneur who is teaching digital literacy to his students to help them develop the skills they need to succeed in life! The course curriculum teaches basic word processing skills, internet research, social media and computer maintenance, skills that will increase their chances of gaining employment after they graduate!  

Thanks to a grant provided by Tigo, Louis' students have gained access to smart phones and laptops and they have proven to be digital wiz kids! Along with the grant, Louis also gained a spot in an incubator program, run by our partner, Reach for Change. In the Incubator, Louis is being supported to develop his social innovation into a sustainable social enterprise that will scale to impact hundreds of Rwandan children and youth!

Meet Gaspard Twagirayezu, a Digital Changemaker

Meet Gaspard Twagirayezu, a Digital Changemaker who is demystifying STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) for Rwandan students, shaping them to be STEM innovators of the future!  Gaspard inspires youth through tech fairs, creation clubs and science camps, where he and his team teach students that the STEM field is interesting, fun and can lead to amazing job opportunities in the future. He does all this work through his sustainable social enterprise, Creation Hill. 

Gaspard is the winner of the 2013 Tigo Digital Changemakers competition which included a grant from Tigo and a spot in the Reach for Change Incubator. in the Incubator, Gaspard received trainings in strategic planning, financial management, communications and more to ensure that Creation Hill can scale to reach as many students as possible, and remain sustainable for years to come! Since 2013, Gaspard has impacted thousands of Rwandan students, who have gone on to study in STEM fields in post-secondary and who will become scientists, engineers and IT professionals leading Rwanda's development throughout their careers.
